Actually... It'll probably surprise you to know that when it comes to the software industry, it's actually doing the opposite of what you think.

Originally, the software companies were all against piracy... then companies like adobe realized that those people that originally pirated the software, were actually the ones responsible for buying more now.

Seems when they "borrowed" the software.... the became very good at using it... and then when they got older and began working for companies... those companies were buying more and more software.

Ever wonder why companies like adobe sell more software packages now than they ever have? And the technology for "borrowing it" is even better these days.

Piracy puts software in the hands of people that otherwise wouldn't ahve bought it anyway. That gives the person to learn and become proficient using the software... and in the future.... it's that "borrowed" software they'll be buying.

The music industry is coming arond to the fact, that people are downloading artist's today that they wouldn't have bought the CD before, so it's actually bringing more music to the masses.

Besides... artists would tell you they don't care. It's the music distributors that make the money on CD's where the artist makes most of their money touring.

If you think illegal is bad then you shouldn't be here lol

anyway, torrenting is different from neopeting.

Torrent is a form of downloading stuff on the web.
It's not necessary have to be illegal bc thats depend on what you are downloading. For example..Pirating software such as Vista..yes. Dl unlicensed anime, all good.

I think Azureus is one of the best ones because you can download an extension which has an IP filter. Sometimes production companies (Sony likes to do it) will host their own product and share it via torrents, and then contact their ISP of their illegal actions. Azureus can filter those IPs out so you don't get them downloading/uploading to you.
